«Wireless communications are a structural element of modern societies, currently being one of the most active technological areas. This is apparent from the universal penetration of personal mobile communications systems, the ubiquity of WiFi data communication systems, or the continuously growing use of tablets and wearable technologies »
WHY WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS
Wireless Communications are a highly requested technological area that includes all aspects related to transmission, emission and reception of any type of information using the electromagnetic spectrum as the medium. From a market point of view, Wireless Communications are currently a driver for innovation, social progress and economic growth. Wireless Communications lay at the intersection of three essential knowledge areas of telecommunications: radio communications, telematics and electronics. Thus, a multidisciplinary approach is needed to encompass different skills and knowledge coming from the three of them. Our research-oriented Master’s program is an excellent opportunity to acquire state-of-the-art knowledge about wireless communications systems and services.
WHERE DO WE FIND
WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS SOLUTIONS
Nowadays, Wireless Communications are one of the core elements of our modern lifestyle and our social, economic and administrative relations, both in the industry and in society as a whole. They are present everywhere and their use will do nothing but keep spreading with the arrival of new services and applications in the coming years.
Mobile Communication Networks
Modern networks for voice and data personal communications (LTE-4G and 5G)
Wireless Personal Area Networks
Devices for personal use (such as smartwatches or health sensors) interconnected by means of short-range wireless networks.
Wireless Sensor Networks
Spatially distributed dense sensor networks that monitor and register environmental parameters (e.g. temperature, humidity, pollution and noise).
Wireless Communication Networks for Intelligent Transport Systems
Vehicles connected to other vehicles and to the road infrastructure, V2X communications.
WHAT ARE THE MAIN CAREER OPPORTUNITIES RELATED TO THIS MASTER?
The career opportunities that this master’s program provide are twofold. On one hand, it allows to get the necessary scientific and technical skills to start PhD studies and follow a research career. On the other hand, it provides specialized technical training oriented towards the telecommunications job market. These are some examples, to name just a few:
Mobile communication systems.
Local area data communication systems (WiFi and Bluetooth).
Core network design to provide wideband services.
Wireless sensor networks.
Radio access networks architecture.
Mobile devices
Wireless communications for intelligent transport systems.

PROGRAM
STRENGTHS
The master in wireless communications is characterized by two great strengths. On the one hand, its international character, being taught entirely in English. On the other hand, its research facet is focused on providing students with the necessary skills and resources to be able to deal with constantly changing and evolving technologies. Thus, at the end of the master’s degree, the graduate could continue with doctoral studies either to pursue an academic career or with a view to an industrial doctorate, which is increasingly in demand by companies.
BROAD INTERNATIONALIZATION
The Master in Wireless Communications is clearly oriented towards internationalization through academic agreements with European and Asian universities, as well as with multinational companies from both industry and service sectors. Our partner universities will provide opportunities for a double master diploma, while our industry partners will support the realization of internships and master thesis.
